"My father is from Odessa, a sailor. He graduated from the Odessa Naval College. Mechanic. After that, he did something completely incomprehensible to me - he started writing books. Among our books were books that he wrote. For example, the handbook of Azerbaijan for 1926, the history of Azerbaijan, the geography of Azerbaijan... And textbooks of Russian language and literature. Before the war (World War I), externships and correspondence courses were encouraged. My father's books were like self-help books. I found Russian literature especially interesting - a lot about wars... In the 42nd year, as a cadet at the naval special school, I did not know the worries with literary essays: there was always a topic for copying..." (from an interview with G.S. Altshuller and I.M. Vertkin, "The LIFE OF A MAN 1-H-502, TOLD TO IGOR VERTKIN." TRIZ magazine, anniversary issue, 1996).
In 1931, the couple returned to Baku (Azerbaijan SSR), where they reconciled with Rebekah Yulievna's relatives.
